Meet Stufful & Bewear! (Pattern)

Hello world! Did you know that International Red Panda day is in September? So what better month to share my patterns for Stufful and Bewear! That’s right, you’re getting 2 patterns today! Red pandas are my favorite animals (and have been long before the media hyped them up so much), so naturally, I love Stufful and Bewear, too. Actually, I didn’t play any pokemon games until Alpha Sapphire, which I thoroughly enjoyed, and when I was done with it (read: completed the dex), I said I’d probably only get another pokemon game if they’d finally introduce a red panda pokemon. And guess what they did in Sun and Moon? Anyways, I sure hope many of you out there love Stufful and Bewear as well and will make your own versions of these cute little floofs! ❤

Pattern

Materials
To make Stufful and Bewear you will need:
– A 2.5mm crochet hook
– Light pink, dark pink, white and brown yarn
– A tapestry needle and scissors
– Stuffing
– Felting supplies and wool in white and black for the face (optional, can be embroidered instead)
– Black thread for the eyes
– A stitch marker to help you keep track of the start of the round
Please note that you can make Stufful and Bewear using any size crochet hook and yarn weight for a smaller or bigger result. I like using DK as it’s most commonly available. If you make amigurumi, it is usually recommended to go down a bit from the recommended hook size for the yarn to allow for a no-hole look (we don’t want to see the stuffing show through in between stitches)! Using DK yarn and a 2.5mm crochet hook, Stufful should be about 10cm tall and 15cm long; Bewear should be about 15cm tall.

Stitches & Abbreviations
The pattern is written using US crochet terms in continuous spirals. You will need to know the following kinds of stitches to make him:
– Magic Ring (MR)
– Chaining
– Single crochet (sc)
– Decrease (dec); preferably using the invisible decrease method
– Increase (inc)
– Working in back loops only (BLO)
And now, let’s get started!

Assembly
First, I recommend you sew the body and head together. This can be a bit tricky and I recommend you use pins to help you sew it in place properly. It will also help you if, before sewing, you take the front legs and put them together with the body and the head to get a better idea of where things should go. Once you’ve sewn together head and body, sew on the front legs, and then the hind legs. Sew the beans to the legs. Sew on the tail and the tag, then, lastly, sew on the ears and the ear fluff. Now felt on the head band in white; though you could also crochet this instead. Once you’re done, take some black thread and embroider on the eyes; I opted to give them a sleepy look so I gave them sleepy eyes and no mouth, but you can obviously change this up to your liking. Lastly I felted on the nose. Done!

Assembly
To get started, you should sew on the arms and legs. They should roughly allign with the color change between light pink and brown of the body. Sew on the beans; for the arms, embroider 3 additional small beans to complete the paw. Sew on the tail. Now we will tackle the face. Take the headband and sew it on, making sure it’s centered. There should be 2-3 rows between the beginning of the brown and the end of the headband. Sew on the ear fluff to the bottom ends of the headband (leaving about one stitch free), then sew on the ears directly above. I sewed the ears on so that the hdc part is on the lower/bottom part of the ear to help with the shape a little bit. Next, sew on the hair; the small hair goes in between the two bigger ones and you should sew them on directly behind the headband. Lastly, sew on the snout, approximately between rounds 7 and 12. Now all that’s left is to felt or embroider on a small nose, and embroider the eyes. Done!
